Theresa Black - Director
Theresa and her husband retired from Calgary to the Shuswap after long and fulfilling careers.
Theresa has over 25 years’ experience in the human resources field. Her last position was as an executive member of Precision Drilling Corporation, which at the time was Canada’s largest oil and gas service company employing over 13,000 employees worldwide. As Corporate Director of Human Resources, Theresa was actively involved in the company’s global expansion, with ultimate responsibility for the human resources function in Canada, the USA and overseas locations including the Mexico, Venezuela, Europe, the Middle East and Indonesia. After leaving the corporation, she formed her own HR consulting practice offering services to new and/or expanding organizations in Calgary.
Prior roles include Director of Human Resources for GE/Harris, a high-tech manufacturing company specializing in electronic systems for the electric utility industry in both Canada and the USA. She also held HR positions at the City of Yellowknife and Westar Mining (a coal mine located in southern BC).
She has performed a leadership role in many human resources functions including strategic planning, employee relations, performance management, mergers and acquisitions, staffing and recruitment, expatriate employment practices, compensation, benefits and employee development.
Theresa is active in the local community as a member of the Shuswap Lady Striders and the Salmon Arm Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society.
